Pinterest is one of those not-as-talked-about social media platforms that’s so underutilized IMO! I personally didn’t really start using Pinterest as a part of my social media strategy until a few months ago, and it already has my heart! This is why I love Pinterest and why you should make it a more serious part of your content strategy…

More effective algorithms…
Have you been feeling like your Instagram posts hardly reach anyone anymore, and when they do they don’t get the attention they used to? It’s so frustrating trying to keep up with the ever-changing algorithm on platforms like Instagram that try and determine how interesting your content is before people ever get to see it. While Pinterest does use algorithms too, theirs seem to be much more egalitarian and content can reach more people no matter the follower count you have. Plus, I find their algo usually shows me things that align with my browsing preferences much better than Instagram, so I find that I’m able to connect with more people in my niche and aesthetic a lot quicker!
It doesn’t take a ton of followers to get attention…
Like I touched on above, you don’t have to have 10K followers on Pinterest to get attention and reach. I started out with just a few followers on the platform, and once I started taking advantage of the Idea Pin feature, I noticed a steady rise in follower count with less unfollows (contrary to Instagram where unfollows come at higher rates). It seems that users on Pinterest, at least at this point, are less likely to engage in the follow to unfollow game, and more likely to follow you because they genuinely like your content. This enables you to steadily build an audience of dedicated supporters that resonate with your content, and who are more likely to click your links, like your posts, and repin your posts. Which leads me to…
Increases traffic to other social media platforms…
Pinterest’s search engine type format makes it so easy for users to find things they are looking for, from diy tips to outfit inspo, and because of this, it’s great for increasing traffic to your other social media platforms! I always repost my Instagram posts and blog posts to Pinterest, and it’s resulted in higher readership on the blog and more reach on Instagram.
Pinterest, IMO, is the next big social media trend. In an age of a saturated market when it comes to social media, Pinterest is still a platform where you can be seen. Take advantage of it while you can; it’s a great way to grow your online business!
