I have never been a bag person until this year, but I have a newfound obsession with designer bags that’s pretty much consumed all of my online shopping as of late! But, I can’t really afford to buy them new, so I’ve put together a list of my top secondhand designer bags that are versatile, good investments that will stay stylish for years to come. Read on…
Dior Saddle Bag
Dior recently brought back one of their most iconic styles: The Saddle. This motif pops up in everything from wallets to the pochette to the classic, and buying one is a great style investment! I have the small pochette (I’ve found it’s the most budget-friendly that gives a lot of the look of the full-size saddle bag, and there are lots of them available secondhand for under $1K!)

Louis Vuitton Speedy
LV will always be a classic. Nothing says luxury like their iconic monogram print, and the Speedy is one of their most well-loved styles that’s been around forever (since 1930 in fact!). There’s a ton of secondhand Speedy’s out there in varying conditions and styles, and they can be more affordable than a lot of other luxury bags!

Fendi Baguette
Carrie Bradshaw’s famous baguette is back and growing in popularity this year! The cult-favorite shape can be found in lots of different patterns, colors, and even sizes, and is a great investment that’s not too highly priced!

Prada Tessuto Shoulder Bag
This year, the most Instagrammable and accessible designer bag is Prada’s reissue of their Tessuto shoulder bag! New ones aren’t that expensive relative to other bags, and you can find some secondhand versions for less than $1K.

Gucci Marmont
A social media fave, Gucci’s Marmont style is widely available in lots of styles, colors, and embellishments. I have it in a pink and gold quilted belt bag, and it’s one of the easiest ways to add designer flair to just about any outfit! They range from bargain to pricey depending on the style and embellishment level, but you honestly can’t go wrong with any of them!

Chanel Quilted Flap Bag
Okay, just to be upfront, Chanel is one of the most expensive bag brands out there. And, because they just raised the prices of their new bags again, secondhand Chanel’s are selling for a LOT more. But, that being said, they are one of the best investments you can make in fashion! An article written in 2016 by Harper’s Bazaar cites a study claiming Chanel bags have increased in value by over 70% in the past several years, and they seem to be going up! If you can find a secondhand bag in good condition, it’ll continue to serve both your style and potentially your pocketbook for years to come!
