Madonna Inn Packing List

In case you’re not as obsessed with kitschy theme motels as I am, the Madonna Inn is a slice of 1950s Old Hollywood-meets-Old West sprinkled in with a heavy dose of Swiss-style charm and a level of gaudy that feels intriguing, but not tasteless, that’s nestled in the rolling coastal hills of San Luis Obispo, California. Originally build in the mid 20th century, this cute little motel has retained all of its former charm and its over-the-top personality hasn’t aged a bit!

Since I’ve been drooling over this Insta-worthy locale for months now, I was beyond excited when we finally booked our stay, and of course planned a ton of outfits to tote along with me! Here’s what I’m packing my bags with… Tap the pictures to shop & flip through the carousels to see ’em all!

Pink, Pink, and More Pink…

Since we’re staying in the famous pink-hued “Love Nest” room, lots of this blushing shade is a must! Make it interesting and add some fun tailoring, subtle patterns, and shiny fabrics!

Jacquard Textures

The Madonna Inn famously has red flocked wallpaper in its main dining area, and somehow jacquard fabric just reminds me of this ultra-extra, nostalgic wall decor! Plus, jacquard fabrics instantly feel luxe!

Summer Florals

A little self-explanatory here, but florals are never a bad idea in my book. Plus, given the frilly, romantic Swiss cottage vibe of the hotel, florals will fit right in!

Corset Details

What’s a better nod to Old Hollywood screen sirens than sultry corset details? The Madonna Inn has hosted quite a few starlets over the years, so why not feel like one yourself with some laces in the right places?

Dramatic Dresses

Let’s be honest, if there ever was a place where you could dress up and be extra, the Madonna Inn would be that place. I’m packing plenty of frippery to rival even the most over-the-top prom queens!

Fun Fringe

Since this fun locale offers horseback riding, I love to incorporate a little Western touch to my glam looks: fringe!

Statement Sunglasses

I swear, it seems like every nook and cranny of this hotel is adorned with something, so don’t forget to embellish yourself everywhere you can too! Plus, statement sunnies like these never go out of style!

This is one vacation I really can’t wait for! We’re staying for two days this time (unlike the infamous Palm Springs 24-hour bonanza we did a few months ago!), so we’ll have plenty of time to both relax and get some great content! Stay tuned for my Ultimate Fashionista’s Guide to the Madonna Inn coming soon!
