7 outfits inspired by the 1960s glamour of Apple TV’s Palm Royale

If you’ve been keeping up with the film news lately, you might’ve spotted a new TV series in the works that features some pretty chic style: Palm Royale. Palm Royale is Apple TV’s latest sensation featuring Kristen Wiig and a star-studded cast set amidst the rich tropical allure of 1960s Palm Beach, and it sure does deliver on the promise of some scrumptious vintage fashion!

For me personally, the 1960s is my FAVORITE fashion era, hands-down! Big hair, oversized sunglasses, mod dresses… Can it get any more chic? Even outside of Palm Royale, it seems like the fashion world is looking back to the 60s a lot in recent style trends, so you know I’m jumping on the chance to make mod, jet-set glamour a comeback! I’ve already been styling some quirky, yet *so aesthetic* 1960s inspired outfits, and I’m sharing them all here so you can get a little Palm Royale outfit inspo in your fashion playbook! Plus, I’m sharing my favorite 1960s Palm Royale inspired clothes at the end of this post for you to shop, so get scrolling!

1960s Mod Dress

This vintage 1960s Malcolm Starr dress is a mod dream! The feathers, sequins, and silk fabric are incredible to wear, and it screams Palm Beach! I accessorized the look with Steve Madden ballet flats, High Heel Jungle bow gloves, a metallic cloche hat, and a pink Cult Gaia bag. Pink cat-eye sunglasses are the cherry on top of this 60s mod outfit!

Giraffe Print Shift Dress

This vintage unbranded giraffe print shift dress is another nod to the 60s with its unique, citrus-colored print! I love vintage fashion because often times the prints are just so darn cute, and something you don’t see a lot nowadays. Orange accessories, a vintage metal belt, and a contrasting print in the checkerboard crochet bag add to the punch of the look!

Modern + Vintage Monochrome Outfit

This look is a mix and match of vintage and current pieces: a printed J. Crew skirt and turtleneck set, and a vintage Cache blazer. This shade of green is a nod to current Spring 2024 trends, while the print nods back to the 1960s. I love mixing florals with structured patterns, like stripes or checkerboard; it’s such a great contrast!

Vintage Swimsuit

This vintage 1960s swimsuit was a thrift store score! I’m convinced that the fits of vintage swimsuits are SO much more flattering than modern ones… This suit is the epitome of mid century Palm Beach, and is SO Palm Royale!

Vintage Party Dress

Okay, so technically this dress is vintage from the 1980s, but the drop waist and luxe fabric give it that mid-century vibe (wasn’t 1980s-does-1950s a thing?). The gladiator Mary Jane heels, feather bag, and vintage Bakelite cuff bracelet top off the look in a subtly-extra way (plus this vintage Jaguar E-type evokes a “The Man from U.N.C.L.E vibe”!).

The Lady Who Lunches Dress

For some reason, this look just screams old money of Palm Beach to me… This is something a lady who lunches would’ve worn in the 60s, which is spot on for Palm Royale style sensibilities! Modern studded ballet flats toughen up this prim look and give it a nod to current trends.

Late 1960s Pantsuit

This co-ord outfit is more late 1960s-early 1970s, but still relevant for Palm Royale given that the series is set in 1969. Coordinating pantsuits were all the rage in this era, and the more polyester, the better! This co-ord set was actually really comfy to wear since the fabric has a natural (or unnatural…) stretch to it, and I modernized the look with secondhand Prada platform oxfords and a checkerboard bag I found on Amazon!

Suffice it to say, I’m hugely excited for the premiere of Palm Royale today, and I can’t wait to get a glimpse at even more luxe 1960s fashion! Stay tuned for even more vintage ootds coming your way on the blog soon…
