Christmas is a time of joy, and what’s better to express joy than an explosion of color, sparkle, and retro vibes galore? This year, I went all out with my love of color and mid-century Christmas decor for a vibe that Austin Powers would approve of.

Read on for all the details of this year’s colorful retro Christmas decor…

The rainbow unicorn Christmas tree of dreams…

Our Christmas tree from last year broke, so I took a chance on this rainbow Christmas tree from Treetopia that I found on Amazon! It couldn’t be more perfect! It’s super easy to put together, and I got the unlit option so I could have more decorating freedom (plus, it was much cheaper!). Shop this rainbow Christmas tree below…

A forest of rainbow bottlebrush trees…

I’ve been collecting bottle brush trees from various places since I was in college, and I’ve started arranging them by color for a technicolor fairy forest of sorts. Last year, I found these cute glass trees from Target and they’re the perfect anchors for the fluffy bottlebrush trees!

A collection of deer…

I have a thing for vintage holiday deer, so I gathered them together to make a colorful and quirky herd! You can find deer like this around the holidays at vintage and antique stores, or reproductions via Target or Amazon.

I’ve found a few cute holiday deer online, shop them below…

The prettiest presents…

My favorite touch during the holidays is coordinating wrapping for presents! I love pinks, blues, metallics, and iridescents, and I try to stick with this theme each year so it’s easier to reuse wrapping paper from years past. I’m also a sucker for bows and love ones that have a classic, retro vibe!

Here’s the holiday wrapping papers and bows I used this year in case you wanna shop…

Old fashioned mid-century Christmas lights…

I have been DYING to get some old fashioned bubbler Christmas lights for FOREVER, so this year I finally took the plunge! Let me tell you, they are SOOO worth it!! They’re a little tricky to place upright, but once you get the hang of it and see them in action, they are mesmerizing! Peep this video below…

Bubbler lights do get a little warm though, so use caution and don’t leave them on unattended! I found mine on Amazon, and they work great! I also added these little LED glass sphere lights for a bit more brightness on the tree, and they have the prettiest glow! Shop both of these fun retro Christmas lights below…

Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments & vintage inspired glass baubles…

Shiny Brite ornaments are the ultimate retro Christmas must. They’re meant to look like vintage 1940s-era Christmas ornaments, and they’re pretty easy to find (I got mine on Amazon!). They can be a little on the pricey side if you’re planning on using them all over a full-size tree, so I supplemented them with a few packs of vintage-inspired ornaments from Amazon! Scandinavian-inspired wooden miniatures…

Laser cut wood trees, manger scenes, and miniature villages are minimal, yet so so charming! They’re so fun to arrange, and even cuter to look at! I love how whimsical the little scenes are, with more and more details popping up each time you look… I like grouping things together to create vignettes, kind of like all of the “lands” in Disneyland!

Animal-friendly faux taxidermies…

Taxidermy animals feel very classical for the holidays, but if you’re an animal lover like me and don’t love the idea of an actual animal part on your wall, faux plush taxidermies are a cutesy way to bring a pop of quirkiness to your space. I found these at Roger’s Gardens in Orange County, but there’s tons of cute ones online! Shop my picks below…

Miles of mushrooms…

Colorful, glitter mushrooms are another one of my holiday decorating obsessions, and I love the fairy-like feel they bring! I made this wreath with a bunch of little plastic mushrooms used for fairy gardens that I then painted with glitter for a festive touch, and I love mixing metallic mushrooms with vintage ones! Shop my favorite mushroom decor below…

A vintage 60s hostess dress…

No holiday is complete without the perfect outfit, and this year, I went for a vintage hostess dress from the 1960s to match the retro Christmas decor. This dress features a built in long sleeve mock neck top with a crisscrossed apron overlay, and allover hand-placed embellishments. I looove the mix of metallic fabrics and sequins; it feels like the perfect holiday dress! Shop my vintage hostess dress picks below…

All lit up…

One of the best feelings is when the lights on the tree click on at 5pm every night! The bubbler lights are so soothing to watch, and the colorful kaleidoscope of colors brightens up those dark winter nights. I’m so happy I took a chance on this bold Christmas decor this year! If you have any questions about the items I used or where to find them, pop a comment on this post and I’ll get back to you asap! Wishing you a holiday season filled with love and light!
