how to make your home feel bougie on a budget

Since we’ve been planning our move to our new home, I’ve been obsessed with creating the perfect chic home space! But, as a lot of you probably know, moving is EXPENSIVE! We’ve had to make some compromises to save a bit of money, but I just didn’t want to sacrifice the style of our new home, so I’ve been getting creative with ways to still get that luxe look I’m after. These are my top tips for making any space feel chic and expensive without spending a ton of money, so read on!

Look for luxe accessories that seem pricey, but they’re not…

Home accents like mirrors, framed art, faux plants, and artsy decor automatically make a space feel a bit more luxurious, like you were intentional in putting it together. The best part is that a few accessories can go a long way in upping your home decor game without spending a lot overall. I love shopping at discount stores like Nordstrom Rack, Home Goods, and TJ Maxx for home decor on a budget; you can find some great deals!

Add throw blankets and pillows…

What do most posh interiors have in common? Inviting and plush seating areas! If your couch is less than comfy, or a bit older (like our first one was!), adding throw blankets and pillows can give it a cozy update without costing a lot!

Do a little DIY…

I’ve been loving stick on faux tile backsplashes and removable peel and stick wallpaper! I’m planning on incorporating this into our new home! They’re cheaper than the real thing, easy to put up/remove (especially if you’re a renter!), and give your space a real focal point. Plus, stick on wall paper can hide wall dings and scuffs, and make your space look chic!

Level up your lighting…

The right lighting can really level up any space, and fancy home interiors usually have some sort of statement lighting scheme. A unique table lamp, sleek floor lamp, or modern sconce brings not only light but a distinct sense of style to your home!
