Valentine’s Day 2022 is just around the corner, and it can be a rather polarizing holiday! People either love it, hate it, or vow to only celebrate it with friends. I personally used to hate the holiday as it always brought to mind my being unhappily single, but since I found my husband 6 years ago, I’ve grown to look forward to celebrating. We don’t usually do anything huge for Valentine’s Day, though, opting for a nice dinner and time spent together instead of major plans with all the pressure that comes with them. That being said, my moderate stance on the day means that I’m always looking to wear something reminiscent of the holiday without too many literal symbols of it. So, here’s my lookbook of Valentine’s (or Galentine’s) friendly outfits that evoke the feelings of love in a more subtle way…

Subtle Hearts

The small heart print in this blouse is so subtle, you almost don’t realize it’s there at first glance! Plus, the neutral tones and natural color palette means this look doesn’t immediately scream “Valentine’s Day”.
Elevated Pink + Red

Pink and red doesn’t have to be a kitschy combo; a modern print fabric in a shift dress silhouette elevates this combo to cool-mod-chick status!
Pink But Make it Chic

Wear pink without looking like Pepto Bismol by choosing a jewel tone of the color in a fitted cocktail dress. The deep vee neckline shows just the right amount of skin with the otherwise modest sleeves and midi length, and the knotted detail at the waist makes this dress flattering for every figure.
For Casual Dates or Galentine’s Brunch

Not all Valentine’s Day outfits have to be fancy; a comfortable, casual look that can run from brunch to shopping is perfect, too! This black blazer has a subtle heart motif in a variety of colors, so pairing it with a poppy-colored skinny jean and glitter sneakers brightens the overall look. Add another touch of hearts with a Spring-ready straw tote that you can wear for the rest of the warm season and you’re set with a look that acknowledges the day while also being versatile enough for restyling.
