The Met Gala is one of the most iconic fashion events of the year; the over-the-top couture looks are always unexpected and bold, year after year!
This year’s theme was “American Independence” and ensembles ranged from a literal interpretation of the theme to the abstract (and a bit strange!). Here are my personal favorites from this eventful evening…
Billie Eilish in Oscar de la Renta
I’ll admit, I’m not usually a fan of Billie Eilish’s style, but the new, softer look she’s debuted recently has been stunning IMO! I loved her Marilyn Monroe-esque look, and the simple nude gown was classically elegant!
Lily-Rose Depp in Chanel
This look really speaks to the recent Y2K trends that have been hitting hard this year! I love that Chanel recycled a look from their SS2015 Haute Couture collection, and the crop top + ultra low-rose skirt is very Paris Hilton circa 2005 in the best way!
Gabrielle Union in Iris van Herpen
IVH’s otherworldly designs have captivated the attention of fashionistas everywhere, so they’re an obvious choice for concocting unforgettable looks for the Met Gala. I loved Union’s look in particular because of its movement; it seems simultaneously flat yet 3D, and transcends fashion into art!
Kendall Jenner in Givenchy
Audrey Hepburn’s favorite fashion house certainly outdid themselves with this fabulous number! Delicate, yet dramatic, this look was one of the most iconic of the night!
Gigi Hadid in Prada
Elegant, understated, retro; All the best ingredients for a great look IMO! I loved the simplicity of Hadid’s look, and Prada’s iconic slingback pumps dazzled in their jeweled rendition!
The Met Gala is and will always be one of those events we fashion lovers look at in awe, and maybe just a bit of envy. Artistry, fashion, glamour, and everything that follows. This year’s Met Gala was every bit stunning and I’m totally inspired by all there was to see!
